Unique Oval Hot Tubs

oval_hottub11All of our oval hot tubs are individually crafted from the finest clear, all heart, vertical grain Western Red Cedar, Alaskan Yellow Cedar or Teak.

We also receive occasional shipments of Port Orford Cedar used for traditional Japanese Soaking Tubs and we make limited supply of smaller oval soaking hot tubs.

The logistical requirements for oval hot tubs are much more restrictive than tradition round tubs and the maximum variance between length and width of an oval hot tub is two feet. An oval tub with a variance larger than 2′ doesn’t maintain its shape for long and most often ends up looking like a giant cigar.

Oval hot tubs are popular with individual soakers and it’s not uncommon for us to make individual soaking tubs that are 40″ by 30″ or smaller. Larger oval hot tubs are usually 4′ tall, but we also make ovals that are 3′ and 5′ tall.

ovaltub3Smaller oval soaking tubs are rarely more than 4′ tall, and frequently as short as 24″-30″ tall which allows the soaker to sit on the tub floor like a traditional Japanese Ofuro style soaking tub.

The oval hot tubs are constructed from the finest full-sawn 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 clear, all heart, vertical grain wood. Both the staves and the tub bottoms are a full 1-3\4″ net thickness making them extremely stable and considerably thicker than most oval hot tubs on the market today.

The extra thickness adds years to the life-span of your tub and virtually eliminates any possibility of future warping of the wood. Most importantly, the extra thickness give our hot tubs up to twice the insulating value of other thinner tubs.

The benches of an oval hot tub differ from the full circular bench of our round hot tubs. The smaller tubs usually have an individual bench on both ends or you can choose a traditional Japanese Ofuro style oval tub that is shallow enough for you to sit on the floor.

On larger oval tubs, we typically install a third bench along one of the long sides between the two end benches. Our largest oval tub, 8′ long by 6′ wide, have benches at both ends and both sides which allows for seating all the way around the hot tub.

In order to give you and your feet complete freedom of movement, we build our benches in a “floating” style so that no part of the bench touches the tub floor.

No banging your feet or legs against wood posts or bench legs, just plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy your soak. All benches come with stainless steel screws.

oval_hottub4Our tubs are supported by 4 x 6 chine joists and held together by 1\2″ steel bands. Our steel bands are roll threaded at each end and come with a cast iron coupler, two stainless steel nuts and a unique polyethylene sheathing which protects the bands from rusting or gouging the wood.

We offer our Oval Hot Tubs as individual stand-alone tubs or as ready to use Complete Systems that contain virtually everything you need to start enjoying your hot tub experience except the water.

Our smaller oval soaking tubs come pre-assembled and out larger oval tubs come are strategically packed in a “knocked down” fashion to allow for easy shipping and installation.

Our oval tubs can be installed in any location and come complete with an easy to understand and comprehensive step by step installation guide that allows both Do-it-Yourselfers and installation pros to confidently install your tub in a safe, long lasting and aesthetically attractive manner.

If you like the benefits of traditional Japanese Ofuro Soaking tubs, our smaller oval tubs make an excellent and less expensive substitute.
